Unobserved Residual Intrahepatic Lithiasis Compliated with Septic Cholangitis
Keywords:
cholelithiasis, bile ductAbstract
The paper reports on two cases, operated successively, of unobserved residuar intrahepatic lithiasis, no- ·
withstanding intraoperatory cholangiography performed in both cases. In one of these cases only an intrahepatic
biliary branch was seen, free of calculi; in the other, filling of superior biliary tract was not achieved.
For these reasons transcystic drainages were placed in both patients. During postoperatory both developed
grave septic cholangitis with renal insufficiency and were reoperated as urgencies in order to drain the common tract duct with tubes. When their condition improved, wide hepatico - choledoco - jejunostomies were performed. Intrahepatic lithiasis is rare iri Uruguay and coincidence of this compÍication in two successive patients renders it even more unusual.
