Value of the omentum in the repair of thoracic parietal defects
Keywords:

An experimental evaluation is performed upon the thoracic transposition of the greater omentum used as a plastic element in the repairment of partial or total defects in the thoracic wall, in 22 dogs. In 12 partial defects ( skin and muscle, up to the costal plane), results were very good. In 10 total defects (including costo pleural plane), the omentum was attached on a synthetic mesh circumferentially sutured to their rims. In these cases, primary aerostasis was difficult and there appeared a subcutaneous emphysema around the lesion, but the later evolution was also good.
