Severe Septic Cholangitis due to Reflux Through Choledocoduodenotomy

Abstract


A patient who had suffered from common duct and, possibly, intrahepatic lithiasis, had b€en subject to surgery
of biliary tract on three occasions. When operated "for the third time, procedure had consisted in latero
- lateral choledocoduodenostomy. A year later he developed bouts of cholangitis which persisted during
five years although treated by increasingly specific antibiotics: gentamycine and sisomycine. Nonethel"ess biliary
infection continued and turned into a severe septic cholangitis.
