Se ven cases of hematoma of the sheathoof the rectus
abdominis muse/e are analysed, including Hospital de
Clínicas casuistry from 1979 to 1987. This pathology's low
frequency is established; the clinic's little use far positiva
diagnosis and the present importance of imagenological
studies (ultrasonography and computerized axial
tomography) is pointed out. Although surgical treatment is
sometimes indicated, it is usually the result of diagnostic
mistakes. Diagnostic confirmation makes possible the
adoption of medica/ treatment with frequent favourable
e volution.
