Abstract

Ten patients with one lung anaesthesia for pulmonary surgery were studied. Gas exchange and Acid-Base equilibrium were evaluated during the procedure. Changes in arterial oxigen tension were never life threatning. When reinhalation circuit were used significant hipercapnia and acidez were detected. Therefore sorne ventilatory pattems are suggested in order to avoid those dangerous phisiological changes.
No atelectasia was seen. Surgical advantages obtained with this technique are emphazised.
