Abstract

The study cf parts resulting from gastrectomy due to gastric ulcers, as well as analysis of bibliography, show t.hat it is not an isolated lesion of gastric mucosa,
but rather that it appears in mucosa with structural alterations known as "Gastritis". These modifications do not always respond to an infective type of aggression, but are the consequence of agressive stimuli over a long period of time. These modifications reproduce a similar morphology among which its worth noting, because of its great frequency
and importance, metaplasia of gastric mucosa. Structural changes have a welldefined topography which coincide with the most frequent locations of gastric ulcers.
There are numerous reasons far concluding that gastric ulcers are a consequence of those structural changes in gastric mucosa.
