This study of the syndrome of peritoneal pseudomixoma discusses main etiopathogenic elements, concluding that it is mostly secondary to pathology of ovaries
and appendix. The paper includes ennumeration of elements leading to diagnosis and therapy, which consists mainly in removing the focus and mucoid
substance. Therapy is completed by chemiotherapy and the use of a diluent is proposed for removal of gelatinous substance through paracentesis. Five such cases ware reported at the "Hospital de Clínicas (University Hospital), in the period 1953-1976, that is to say, one every 40. 000 patients discharged
