Abstract

The authors analyze the different techniques employed in coloplasties through out the world and for which a considerable number of case histories are
available. This type of surgery is difficult, risky and exposed to varied complications. As a result of said analysis it can be stated that: 1) Transverse colon is the most favourable sector
or esophagoplasties. 2) Not only arterial but also venous circulation should be watched· during liberation manouvres; Henle's  venous trunk limits ascent of right end of transplant,
consequently the aniso-peristaltic position becomes obligatory. 3) Retrosternal approach, though not devoid of complications, is still the best for oncological surgery
when it becomes necessary to carry out subtotal resection of esophagus. 4) Esophago-colonic anastomosis in the neck may be complicated by swallowing disorders and consequent
passage of liquids to the bronchi and lung flooding. 5) In non-neoplasic surgery the endopleural approach, if technically correct, is considered by the authors as the most adequate and the one that offers
the best functional results.
