ORIGINS
The Cirugía del Uruguay Magazine has a vast history that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, in 1930, ten years after the Surgical Society of Montevideo was founded in 1920.
ORIGINS
The Cirugía del Uruguay has a vast The beginning of this magazine, which has several decades of uninterrupted publication, began with these words from Dr. Carlos Stajano.
"In the past ten years of life, our SOCIETY OF SURGERY has devoted all its work to various national and foreign reviews. Various reasons prevented our Society from having a special advertising body, to reflect the work of the Uruguayan surgical group.
After ten years of activity, and tenacious struggle, we can see that in Uruguay, in the time that has passed, a true scientific environment has emerged, which did not exist ten years ago, new elements have been disciplined to the rhythm of the sessions, inevitably biweekly, and today the SOCIETY OF SURGERY, having a life of its own, fills a need in the environment, as does its newsletter.
The basic rule that the Directors of this Journal impose on publications is that of concision. No "in extenso" works will be published, only excerpts from communications, conclusions of works, etc. will be presented. providing its readers, in a few lines, with the essence of the main issues presented to the Society.
"All the members of the Society will be effective collaborators for the total success of this Journal, who will provide, at the end of each session, their written opinion expressed in the discussions."
Secretary General Dr Carlos Stajano (1930)
