Abstract


Authors present an exceptional case of teratoma assoclated
wlth omphalocele; the patient was operated
on when only a few hours old with good results. The case
was that of a median omphalocele, with a tumour
adhered to lleum, near the emergence of the umbilical

and a mature teratoma was diagnosed. Authors make
considerations about the frequency of omphalocele
and the malformations that can be associated with it,
mainly cardiac and digestiva. They point out the low In•
cldence of teratoma and lts most common location
(50% at sacrococcygeal level). Authors siso emphasize
the importance of early resection of teratomas because
of the probability of their becomlng mallgnant.
